About

New Road Artists was originally founded by ex-art students of the Southampton Institute of Education under the guidance of a former tutor. Known initially by the name of Timsbury Modern Painters, the group quickly established a reputation for the quality of its abstract art work. It has matured over the years into its current form, comprising 15 semi-professional artists, whose ideas and expertise are continually refreshed by visits from other artists for workshops, discussions and lectures.

As a vacancy arises the group welcomes experienced artists who share its aims and aspirations.
These include:

– fostering an artistic and learning environment, which stimulates creativity and develops practical and critical skills.

– promoting knowledge and appreciation of past and current artists’ work.

– periodically holding group exhibitions, although members do show and sell their work separately.

By its serious commitment to these objectives New Road Artists continues to be successful commercially and respected artistically.

The group meets on Wednesdays 10 am to  4 pm during term-time at the Jubilee Hall, Timsbury, nr Romsey, Hampshire.
