I have been interested in art from a very young age I was lucky enough to attend both Chelsea Art School and the Royal College of Art.
Circumstances led me into Art teaching in Secondary, 6th Form and Adult Education. I continued to paint but am now enjoying more time to really explore and develop my passion for colour and shape.
Influenced by my surrounding countryside I make notes and sketches as I walk but my paintings develop into more of a remembered landscape, incorporating the colours, shapes and patterns I’ve absorbed in my walk.
At present I am restricting myself to a more limited and subtle palette, using my memories of and recent walks around Notting Hill as my inspiration. I am also taking on the challenge of working on larger canvas which is making me look afresh at developing a more disciplined structure to a painting and using empty space in a meaningful and effective way by balancing it with busy intense areas of colour and pattern.
